Stuart Cosgrove is a writer and television producer. He is an executive director of the Scottish production and development company BOY 313. He was media editor with the music paper NME and a feature writer for a range of newspapers and magazines before setting up the independent production company Big Star.

In 1994 he joined Channel 4 as Head of Independent Film and Video and in 1996 was promoted to Head of Arts and Entertainment and subsequently to overseeing Channel 4's commissioning and production outside London, in the Nations and Regions and the UK. He became Director of Creative Diversity at Channel 4 a newly merged division that spearheaded, Channel 4's diversity drive.

In 2005 he was named Broadcaster of the Year in the Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Awards and in 2012 he won numerous awards including a BAFTA and Royal Television Society award for Channel 4’s coverage of the London Paralympics 2012.

When he left Channel 4 after twenty years as a studio executive, he began to write his soul trilogy a group of books on soul music in the last three ears of the 1960s - 'Detroit 67', 'Memphis 68' and 'Harlem 69' The second book in his soul trilogy, Memphis 68, won the Penderyn Music Prize in 2018.

He has since written 'Cassius X' a biography of Muhammad Ali's Miami Years and an epic book on Black Music and the White House entitled 'Hey America.'
