Nimmi Harasgama

Nimmi Harasgama

Nimmi was a member of the National Youth theatre of Great Britain in another century and then went on to get a BA HONS in Drama and Theatre Arts at Goldsmiths College London University. She has won a few awards, but she’s old now and desperately trying to find other things to share because she is being forced to.

She is known for playing Nurse Mari in 4 seasons of ITV’s Good Karma hospital, but that’s over now. You could have seen her as the female lead in Deepa Mehta’s Funny Boy on Netflix but it’s Not. On. Netflix. Anymore. But you can catch her there in Requiem as a detective.

According to the Radio times the mini series Finders Keepers will be airing soon on Channel 5, where Nimmi plays Sam. In Theatre, (her first love after her son) she recently played the female lead in Partition at the Donmar Warehouse.

Nimmi is really hoping she will get a bloody credit this year for her writing. After a rehearsed reading commissioned by SKY TV of her pilot episode, Brown Girl Panic, nothing although Chennai Story, a film she co-wrote with director Philip John, is set to begin filming in February. She is currently adapting Nizrana Farook’s novel The Girl Who Stole An Elephant into an animated Feature with Helen Blakeman for Blue Bear Productions. And developing her play My Homemade Kite with Ken Emson through Adopt A Playwright for Tamasha Theatre Company.

She is super excited and honoured to be moderating a discussion with three powerhouse writers and is shitting bricks she doesn’t put her foot in her mouth, something she is known for.
