Lal Medawattegedara is the author of two novels: Playing Pillow Politics at MGK (winner Gratiaen Prize 2012), Restless Rust (short-listed Gratiaen Prize 2021); and two short story collections, The Window Cleaner’s Soul (Short-listed Gratiaen Prize 2002) and Can you hear me running. His work has been featured on BBC Radio 4, BBC World Service, Khaleej Times and Sri Lanka’s pioneering Christmas magazine Noel. He teacher English at the Open University of Sri Lanka.
