Sujit Sivasundaram is an internationally-leading historian and writer. He is Professor of World History at the University of Cambridge and Fellow at Gonville and Caius College. His latest book is the prize-winning Waves Across the South: A New History of Revolution and Empire. This book was awarded the British Academy Book Prize for Global Cultural Understanding as well as the Bentley Book Prize for World History. He is also author of Islanded: Britain, Sri Lanka and the Bounds of an Indian Ocean Colony. Sujit is now working on a long history of the Indian Ocean and on the history of Colombo. He sits on multiple editorial boards, for university presses and leading academic journals, and was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2023, a prized distinction for academics in the humanities and social science in the UK.
